Brooklyn Rant

I hate how now Brooklyn is considered “cool”. When one who is not native to the area, one would believe the entirety of Brooklyn is Williamsburgh, Park Slope, Green Point, Brooklyn Heights, and all the areas in north Brooklyn. Everyone forgets there is a LARGE part of Brooklyn south of those areas that is actually Brooklyn not a warped version of Manhattan. Brooklyn is separate, and I hate when I mention I live in Brooklyn, and people ask me where, because they “know so much about Brooklyn”. When I tell them where I live they have NO idea. All the hipsters up there give a fake idea of Brooklyn. It makes me so sick. In their minds every street has a coffee shop, and a record store, with bars on the corners. Don’t say you are a Brooklyn-ite unless you’ve lived here for several years and have explored outside your bubble.

Colleges being nothing but grooming schools for the middle class non-identity which usually finds its perfect expression in the outskirts of the campus in rows of well-to-do houses with lawns and television sets in each living room with everybody looking at the same thing and thinking the same thing at the same time while the Japhies of the world go prowling in the wilderness to find the ecstasy of the stars, to find the dark mysterious secret of the origin of faceless, wonderless, crapulous civilization.
